Alex Kent

woman running

Hi there! I’m Alex and I’m a nurse from Perth, WA. I think of myself as a bit of a sucker for punishment as I keep trying to master the sport of triathlon. But through triathlon, I have a made so many precious memories, new friends and achieved things my younger self would never have dreamt of.

Achievements

My biggest achievement in the sport is when I completed my first full Ironman in Port Macquarie, May 2019. This was the hardest things both physically and mentally I have ever done. A roller coaster ride from the training build, race week and the whole day. I got to experience the journey with my now husband which made it extra special. I think going training for an Ironman tote her was a good test of a relationship before we got married! Haha

What Inspires You

The thought of trying to be the best version of yourself is what inspires me and to prove yourself wrong. I got into this sport to prove myself that I can achieve things I never thought possible and it’s helped me in other areas of life. My husband's grit and determination he displays every single day also inspires me to show up and never give up, no matter how hard it seems. I also like to surround myself with people who inspire me and make me want to be better.

Big Goals

I’m currently training for Busso 70.3 in May 2021 and my big goal is to have another crack at the full Ironman in December.

Nutrition Tips

Don’t be afraid of carbs!! If you want your body to perform, you need to treat it well and fuel it properly. Good quality protein and carbohydrates are key. Eat a whole food, balanced diet to support your goals. I’ve also gained the help of a sports dietitian in the past year to help me specifically. Never be afraid to ask for help!
